    Announcing gates.to

Posted on Monday, July 05 @ 14:18:43 BST by darklord

Other flight sim related news The team of Maurizio Gavioli and Ugo Grandolini announce a new label in the flightsim add-on world: gates.to. Coming later this year will be a new software add-on that will allow two flightsimmers using separate computers to operate as pilot and co-pilot of the same aircraft. For more, click on Read More.

We are proud to introduce a new label in the Microsoft Flight Simulator add-on world: gates.to !

A few months ago we were talking about a new concept that could have made a step forward in the way people fly with their PCs.

What about being able to share your cockpit with another pilot and interact together on it?

Imagine what you would be able to do with a program which can synchronize your systems and fly the same aircraft. For example, you lower the gear and the other pilot get the gear lowered on his system as well.

Having such a system allows for realistic pilot/co-pilot flights: doing checklists and taking care of your own duties reproducing in a better way what happen in the real cockpit!

And, if you need some flight training, it will be possible to have a 'live' instructor showing you how to perform certain operations and even test your skills!

Add a gem like TeamSpeak on top of this system and start dreaming.

    Requirements

Of course you will need MSFS: we are going to work on an FS2004 only compatible version initially, adapting it to future MSFS releases.

Initially, you will be able to use this system with any default aircraft and/or any aircraft programmed as described in MSFS SDK.

Scenery will not be an issue provided that both pilots are using sceneries with runways/taxiways placed at exactly the same locations (meaning LAT/LON/ALT coordinates) and the same NAVAIDS frequencies.

    Availability

We are aiming to release the private beta sometime in summer 2004 and the public one as soon as possible right after.

    About Us

All productions under the gates.to label are conceived and developed by Maurizio Gavioli -- a very well known name in the MSFS world (www.vistamaresoft.com) and Ugo Grandolini -- co-founder of LAGO (www.kyu.it).

After a long work and friendship relation, we decided to put our minds together as we still have something to say in the MSFS add-on world and. not only there!
