SOUTH CAROLINA, 9 August 2004. MegaScenery publisher, PC Aviator, today released screenshots of its upcoming MegaScenery Pacific Northwest for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 - the fourth volume of MegaScenery - the groundbreaking visual scenery series for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Part of the screenshot release includes screenshots that highlight the most recent visual improvement to MegaScenery known as MegaCity technology. Default MegaScenery scenery is recreated from 5 meter per pixel satellite images and while this resolution is more than adequate for cross country regions, it fails to capture all of the intricate detail required for truly replicating urban areas. MegaCity technology uses 1 foot per pixel aerial photography source data which is 225 times the resolution of the 5 meter satellite data. While it's eventually displayed in Microsoft Flight Simulator at 5 meters per pixel, the maximum possible, the detail that is captured is more than significantly increased. The detail displayed is very fine and truly captures the finest city detail.
The Pacific Northwest MegaScenery product covers 30,000 square miles of Seattle and surrounding area. Desktop pilots will be able to soar over significant landmarks such as Mt Rainer, Mt St Helens, Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and everything else the Pacific Northwest is famous for.
This title is due for release in October 2004.
More information, including the recently released screenshots, are available for viewing at the MegaScenery website.
