Flight Simulator 2004 In a surprise announcement that is sure to please flightsim fans, Microsoft has announced that there will be an update for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century Of Flight. Responding to customer feedback, the update will address performance and stability issues, increase support for higher detail elevation data, enhance frame rates in some circumstances and address many peoples' pet peeve--the missing bridges. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 Update

We are pleased to announce this update for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight and look forward to releasing the update to our global users. We are excited to be able to enhance the performance of Flight Simulator and to provide custom created and enhanced models of the missing bridges to improve the overall environment. We hope our pilots will have many hours of enjoyment in-flight with the enhanced performance and enhanced view out the window!

The Microsoft Flight Simulator Team is pleased to announce a product update for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight. The update, in response to customer feedback and Product Support information we will address a series of performance improvements and content updates.

    Performance Improvements

Enhanced frame rates for flights repeatedly in and out of a common area. Frame rate drops have been corrected due to Autogen scenery behavior and memory allocation.

Addressed product stability issues due to changes of season in particular airport environments. Users will experience stable and consistent behavior when changing the time and season across any of the airports at any level of scenery detail.

Addressed additional product stability issues in areas tied to different features throughout the product.

Addressed issues with configuration file updates to make sure all option changes are reflected during subsequent launches.

Increased support from 76 meter to 19 meter elevation data in Flight Simulator 2004.

    Content Updates

The Update will include over 160 bridge models created after authentic landmarks to replace missing autogen bridges. These new bridges will appear for all scenery settings of normal and higher.

Kennedy Airport (KJFK) will feature new autogen objects to further enhance the high detailed scenery and terrain for the airport and surrounding area.

Virtual Student Pilots completing their first solo flights will correctly receive Solo Certificates for their accomplishments.

The update will be released across the five localized language offerings for English, German, French, Spanish, and Japanese editions. The update will be available on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Insider web site (http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/default.asp) and is currently scheduled to be available at the beginning of October 2004.
