OstWest Team Releases Vilnius International Scenery

Posted on Monday, February 14 @ 02:11:56 GMT by darklord

Flight Simulator 2004 Now available from the OstWest team is FS2004 scenery of Vilnius Int'l Airport, the largest airport of the three Baltic States. The scenery features realistic runways, parking, textures and more. For details and screen shots, click on Read More.

State Enterprise Vilnius International Airport - Vilnius Airport is the leading one among the airports of the three Baltic States.

Independent Enterprise from 2 October 1991.

Full title - State Enterprise Vilnius International Airport

The Enterprise covers an area of 333 hectares with airfield perimeter of 10,54 km.

The runway is 2.500 m long; 50 m wide; PCN=79; category I, equipped with Siemens signal lights system.

    Architecture Of The Airport Building

Presently, Vilnius Airport is a complex of buildings of two different architectural styles. The old building, which was designed by the architects Dmitry Burdin and Genady Yelkin, was constructed in 1954. It features the monumental architectural details of Soviet forms. This typical Soviet neo-classical building reflects the architectural tendencies of the time.

After the restoration of Lithuanian independence in 1990, the construction of a new airport terminal was started. The architects reconstructed the old building and skilfully joined it with the new architectural complex. The authors of the new architectural solution are Algimantas Alekna, Gintautas Telksnys, Leonardas Vaitys and Gediminas Navickas, the chief engineer of the project. The original architecture has a touch of postmodernism, however High-Tech elements prevail. Glass structures connect the new and the old buildings.

Flight direction from Vilnius airport: Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Copenhagen, Dublin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Helsinki, Kiev, London, Milan, Moscow, Munich, Oslo, Palanga, Paris, Prague. Riga, Stockholm, Tallinn, Vienna, Warsaw.

Vilnius airport for FS2004 from OstWest team

    • AI compatible
    • Realistic texture
    • Static objects: buses, cars, VOR, ILS ,edge lights
    • Realistic runway texture
    • Realistic aircraft parking - NOT like on pilot aircraft charts, which is not exact! (it means all 58 parking places, not 43, and taxiway lines are exactly like in the airport)
