Airbus Industrie deputy commercial director Christian Scherer said it is 'possible, even probable' that deliveries of the A380 superjumbo to the company's top clients will be delayed. Click on Read More for full story.
Speaking to reporters here, Scherer added that the deliveries would start in 2006.
Airbus has already delayed the delivery of the first superjumbo plane to Singapore Airlines from the first half of 2006 to the second half.
Scherer said that, 'If there is a delay, it will be an overall delay and not discriminatory'.
Emirates, the biggest customer of the A380 with an order for 43 planes, is expecting to take delivery of the aircraft in October 2006 and said it has not been told of any delay.
Asked about the reasons for the delay in deliveries, Scherer said they were caused by problems in interior fittings and in the large number of different suppliers.
'There isn't a crisis', he said. 'The most important thing for us is to give very clear dates and commitments' to the customers.
