What about the next version?
That's the question everybody is asking us daily. On 3 September the team decided to aim for a release of version 3 round about the middle of 2006.
We have been reluctant to release information on the new NL2000 version 3. We did this on purpose, as to not make any promises we can't keep. But the moment has come that we are confident enough. Therefore the team has decided to also release the first screenshots and details about NL2000 version 3.
During the oncoming FS Weekend in the Aviodrome we will attempt to give a live demonstration of the alpha version. So, anybody who is interested, is welcome to come and visit our stand.
The NL2000 team asks all of you to be patient. We really need the time. We want to invest more time into this release to make it even more breathtaking.
So, here are the details:
Version 3 consists of a photoreal surface with a resolution of 1 meter (3 feet) per pixel. Comparable sceneries use a resolution of more than 4 meters per pixel. So, yes, you will see that traffic jam on the A1 Motorway, that's a promise.
We do expect frame rates to improve in comparison to version 2.92.
There will be an all new Schiphol Airport, rebuilt from scratch. It will be more detailed and accurate than the one in version 2.92. What's more important, the runways, taxiways, beacons and other stuff will align nicely with FS2004.
Furthermore, we envisage lots of new 3D objects, and loads of other stuff.
