Announcing the F-104 Starfighter by PRE-Flight RC Simulator. Called the "missle with a man in it", the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was one of the more extreme jet fighter designs which adopted a minimalist architechture- fitting the smallest possible airframe around one of the most powerful engines available in the 1950's. The result was a plane that was more starship than jet fighter.
To lessen drag the wings were made so thin that its leading edge was sharp enough to warrant protectors as they posed a hazard to the ground crew. The aileron hydraulic cylinders had to be only one inch thick to fit in the wings. The fuselage was carefully designed to cut drag and result in excellent climb rate, speed, and acceleration.
This super scale PRE-Flight model of the Starfighter has operating landing gear and afterburning jet.
