ACARS in IYP - New and Improved

"Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (or ACARS) is a digital datalink system for transmission of small messages between aircraft and ground stations via radio or satellite." For simmers interested in learning more ACARS details, this article is very informative and a good read.

ACARS-IYP has been improved and newly integrated into the IYP application to add even more interest and realism, and a significantly expanded flight experience for IYP users each time they take off...

At the start of any flight, with any of the IYP supported aircraft, users can say, "Start ACARS Logging". Co-Pilot (Michelle or Mike) will respond with, "ACARS logging has started". The IYP ACARS system logs all relative flight data (frequency changes, flaps positions, air speeds, wind speeds, latitude and longitude, top-of-climb fuel, landing performance, etc.) throughout the entire flight. Once the aircraft reaches the destination airport and performs the Parking checklist, the Captain can elect to save the data (thanks to an IYP prompt.) All saved flight data is stored in a dedicated file folder on the user's computer and can also be sent to the IYP servers as a PIREP (Pilot Report), where it can been seen by fellow pilots on the IYP site. The ACARS data created by IYP is fully compatible with the information generated by FSACARS. The Captain can review the developing ACARS data at any time during the flight by simply saying, "Bring up the ACARS window".
