PC-Simulation, the French printed monthly magazine devoted to varied types of simulation (flying, racing, naval, civil and military), is celebrating its first anniversary. Our motto from the very beginning is still true: while never turning our backs to professional universes which use virtual worlds as a working tool, our natural field is leisure simming... which is a completely different story than gaming.Reality is never far away: either doing a Paris-Frankfurt at the helm of a Boeing 737 or learning tips and tricks of pro sailors when they try to win an America's Cup regatta, our goal is, through a comprehensive and tutorial approach, to give our readers the opportunity to make the most out of their simulators. We also take every chance to ask the experts who know the "real thing"; what it is (or was) like to pilot the actual plane, drive that race car or accomplish the mission that a particular simulator recreates for our enjoyment. When doing software and hardware reviews we never miss taking two capital notions into account. First: breaking news in itself is not a guaranty of any product's quality (either payware or freeware). It's the reason why we only write about what meets our criteria of realism and quality, even if it means giving another look at some of them or just skipping the ones which do not. When reviewing a product, our approach is of the multiple-angles kind: we gather different specialists each writing about his particular field of experience about the same product (renewed physics guru and 3D modelers are regular contributors of the magazine). The second notion - and the most important by far - is that simulation is done by human beings. We definitely want to talk about them through interviews, story coverings and, generally speaking, by taking a look behind the creations to discover all that creators have to teach us.
