Dolphin One Airline Launching Oceania Challenge

Posted on Wednesday, October 15 @ 17:20:48 BST by darklord

Other flight sim related news This global VA has just launched a new fuel economy challenge crossing all of Oceania from Sydney to Pitcairn via French Polynesia, Fiji, Samoa, New Caledonia, back to Auckland. The challenge is open to Dolphin One pilots as well as any pilot willing to join the challenge. Those who want to try a modern turboprop can fly the D1 Embraer 120 Brasilia or the new Fokker 50 "City of Melbourne". For full details, click on Read More.

The Oceania Challenge is open to Dolphin Pilots as well as to external pilots and will enable you to fly your DC3 or our flagship, the DC3 Flying Nautilus, around the South Pacific Islands.

For those who would prefer to fly one of our Fleet planes, you will be authorized to fly the Embraer 120 Brasilia or the Fokker 50 "City of Melbourne".   No other company plane will be authorized as some runways will be very short...

All pilots need to register first to get a pilot-id even if they don't want to stay afterwards with our VA, this for tracing purpose in our database for fuel consumption and total hours.

Starting from Sydney, you will fly as far as Pitcairn Island, with an optional extra flight to Easter Island, and come back to Auckland in New Zealand via French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, the Samoa's, the Fiji's, the Vanuatu's, and many others.

For Pitcairn, a new airport (Fletcher Christian) has been designed and the new FS2002 scenery is included in the challenge file to add to FS and enable landing in this far and remote place with only 40 inhabitants.

All IFR flight plans are made available for the DC3 in FSnav4 and FS2002 versions.   Graphic maps for VFR will also be provided on request by e-mail to each pilot entering the challenge.   Your task will be to consume as little fuel as possible during this voyage and bring the cargo safe at each destination.

Each participant will be invited to send by mail it's actual consumption and flight time for each leg to the manager of Dolphin One, sponsor of the challenge.   In addition to our normal roster, results will be published as a special roster on our website.

The two legs to and from Easter Island are facultative as you really do leave Oceania by doing so.
However motivated pilots are much appreciated at Dolphin One.

How to report Challenge flights and time ?

Simple, use the pirep system.  All Oceania Challenge flights (CHAL-OCLxx) have been entered in our database and will be checked at pirep entry like normal schedule flights.   Time will be automatically added to your flight time as well.

So you are an experimented VA pilot.  Then what are you waiting for to have fun with the dolphins ?  "Fly with the pod" in this new challenge.   More on our website with many other challenges and scheduled flights.
