    Announcing MyWorld2004

Posted on Sunday, January 25 @ 00:25:59 GMT by darklord

Flight Simulator 2004 MyWorld2004 is a package of enhancements for FS2004 that includes a worldwide coverage Landclass file, a collection of elevated mesh files and global AI traffic. For full details, click on Read More.

Microsoft™ Flight Simulator 2004 is a wonderful program, with many new never seen options, completely new scenery formats - and a usage of these in the stock supplied world that demands improvements almost everywhere, specially outside of the United States. MyWorld2004 brings those global add-ons made before for Flight Simulator 2000 and 2002 - MyTraffic, FSLandclass, Euromesh, FSMesh and others under one common roof - everything fitting together, with a firework of products, all based on Flight Simulator 2004 tools - and therefore will never support any previous version, while some parts of it may run there.

Since the world is big enough, I cordially invite other designers to join in and add their work to MyWorld2004, just contact me. What does MyWorld2004 contain?

First, a coverage of all world by one seamless Landclass file, or by smaller entities contained in regional products. Compared to FSLandclass for FS2002, this is based on more and partially newer maps, new algorithms to read them including pattern recognition for coded sizes of smaller cities, new transformation into classes, adoption to the changed shapes and new classes available in FS2004, seamless around the world. It also cover the missing part of the Middle East and India now in the usual level of detail. Existing users of several FSLandClass for FS2002 products will be entitled for a limited period to get MyWord2004LC at a discount price.

Second, fitting to this Landclass MyWorld2004 will contain elevated mesh scenery. Based upon four years of experience with elevated mesh design, and on a good collection of various altitude data, this 75 mesh will let you recognize the altitude profiles you see in real life - without spoiling the performance more than unavoidable. Since elevated mesh data are large in size, they will be sold in cheap fitting parts of 90 to 100 MB each, or be included in CD products.

Third, as you all expect, AI traffic will bring life into the world of Flight Simulation. MyTraffic2004, available since the first hour of FS2004, has set the standards in what a global add-on to flight simulation can be expected to bring - and a new version with free update for all existing costumers to a version integrating with MyWorld2004 is under work currently.

Then, there will be more! AI traffic and scenery have 23700 points where they intersect, called airports. Since any change to the traffic behavior of an airport also changes its visible appearance, airports will be a vital part of MyWorld2004. Based upon the brand new scenery SDK of FS2004, new airports will be partially enhanced versions of the existing airports, others will be new designs based on real world airport.
