FSX Yak-18 Max

Yak-18 “Max” brings a reworked beta of the classic Soviet trainer to Microsoft Flight Simulator X with wheeled and ski-equipped variants, plus optional English-labeled gauges for clearer cockpit workflow. It delivers authentic piston handling notes, including cylinder temperature limits, cruise settings, and practical target speeds for aerobatics and flap-down landings.

Installation:

  • Unpack files to any temp folder.
  • Copy "panel", "sound" and "texture.DOSAAF" folders from Yak-18 to Yak-18_ski.
  • Move "pilot2_T" (winter texture) from Extras to Yak-18_ski/"texture.DOSAAF".
  • (Optional) If you want English gauge labels, change "f3_T", "instruments1_T" and "instruments2_T" in DOSAAF texture folders with "f3_T", "instruments1_T" and "instruments2_T" from Extras folder.

Do not overheat the engine - 250C is max cyl. temperature. Cruise at 1550-1600 rpm, 170-180 km/h. Max throttle for 10 min only.

Winter version has fixed gear.

Aerobatic speed - 240 km/h
Landing speed (flap down) - 90 km/h

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
