Guru of 3D received their GeForce 6800 Ultra and updated their preview with a massive update today. Now included in this preview are a photo shoot of the product and of course a huge number of benchmarks taken with games like Call of Duty, Halo: Combat Evolved, Unreal 2004, Splinter Cell, RTCW and several others. The games have been tortured at several settings, default (raw), Anisotropic Filtering settings up-to 16x, combined with Anti Aliasing. They are also showing what the difference of a 2.8 and 3.4 GHz processor can mean for a graphics card like this. Anyway, have a look I'd say. The article is now at 24 pages and yet there will be another update soon. Click on Read more.....
The GeForce 6800 Ultra is of course a power house for sure. But I have a feeling that NVIDIA has something up their sleeves. The fact that this product is clocked at only 400 MHz is at the least surprising. I'm pretty confident that in a few months we'll see a 6900 Ultra model @ 500 or higher MHz. I know this is speculation, but it's like NVIDIA is awaiting ATI's next killer product to see how it performs and react quickly to it. At the current clock frequency the card already kicks ass, but 400 MHz for a .13 micron product simply is low.
