With the release of the HRW Pack 42 on April 15, 2004 The Hopping Round the World Adventure reached the halfway mark.
Since August 3, 2003 The Hopping Round the World Adventure for FS2004 began in the Falkland Islands. The launch airplane was the Beechcraft King Air 350. Since then more than 50 freeware from the likes of AST2010, Project Open Sky, MelJet, CSI Airbus, Project Airbus, Project ERJ, FFX/SGA, Harald Nehring Airbus, Historic Jetliners Group (HJG), IFDG, DSB, Yamamoto and most default Microsoft aircraft have been flown.
This is a challenge never before planned and flown in the flightsim community using real world dates and weather as you encounter short airfields, water landings, avoid controlled flight into terrain (CFIT), manage in-flight equipment failures, survive zero visibility conditions and enjoy the scenery on clear days while you master piloting props, jet props, helicopters, classics, military and big iron.
Pilots can sign up on the official HRW roster as well as track the overall progress by viewing the HRW Progress Chart.
So far, there have been over 477 takeoffs/landings and more than 83,372 miles flown and we are only on the African continent. I am still amazed to find 83,953 HRW packs have been downloaded from both Avsim and FlightSim.Com combined.
