    B-25J ''Briefing Time'' Released

Posted on Wednesday, February 26 @ 14:00:00 GMT by ryangeeza

    Flight Simulator 2002
Now available from MAAM-SIM, as a fund raiser for the Mid Atlantic Air Museum, is their FS2002 version of the museum's award winning North American B-25J Mitchell twin engine bomber, "Briefing Time". The aircraft is available now on CD or by download. For details, click on Read More.

The long-awaited second add-on aircraft package by the "R4D Team", now known as MAAM-SIM, has been rolled out of the hangar and is cleared direct to a field near you.

The Mid Atlantic Air Museum's prize-winning B-25J Mitchell, 'Briefing Time', has been faithfully replicated as an add-on package for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 by award-winning designers Bill Rambow, Jan Visser, Fred Banting, and Rob Young. The aircraft's exterior and interior feature "extreme photo-realistic" textures derived from thousands of digital photographs. The stereo sounds of the mighty Wright Double-Cyclones were recorded in the real plane, and 'BT's flight performance has been painstakingly reproduced in the simulation's flight model so you can fly her "to the numbers", and we even provide those: The checklists, and the reference and specification pages are extremely detailed, covering every phase of flight in both normal and emergency operations.

There are a dozen 2D panels and pop-ups, including both the pilot's and copilot's perspectives, with enlarged IFR panels for both. All of the gauges and controls on the real aircraft have been duplicated exactly and programmed to operate like their real-world counterparts.

'Briefing Time' features a 3D "virtual cockpit" of exceptional clarity and detail, with numerous animated controls and features. You can move anywhere on the flight deck, taking the pilot's or the copilot's seat.

But it does not stop there. You can also move back into the upper turret compartment, just to the rear of the cockpit, then "slide" through the tunnel beneath the flight deck, and assume the "best seat in the house," in the Bombardier's compartment.

Seven photoreal views allow you to take up other crew positions, such as the waist gunner's, and the top turret gunner's.

The self-installing aircraft package includes three different complexity levels of virtual cockpit and cabin to accommodate slower systems, or just boost your frame rate when you want top performance. Easy menu selections allow you to fly the complete aircraft, or to opt for the medium version, which has the virtual cockpit, but not the other compartments; or the light, which dispenses with the 3D virtual cockpit and cabin altogether. Switching between versions can be done at any time by accessing the aircraft menu, and since the three versions are identical in every other way, you won't even disturb your flight path.

You can obtain your copy of the B-25J 'Briefing Time' package in one of two ways: Compact Disc or downloadable version.
