This aircraft is a customization, upgrade and optimization of Arik Hohmeyer's fine L10E from FS-Design Berlin. The intent was to match it as closely as possible to Earhart's L10E Lockheed Electra. Dave Bitzer's research at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. and independent work by Alex Nicolson resulted in over two-dozen flight-dynamics changes, including proper-capacity long range tanks. Norman Hancock designed two custom panels for this historic aircraft; a classic version with a Sperry AP and a modern one with a digital AP and more navigation equipment. The Cambridge Engine Analyzer, Sextant, Drift Meter, and pop-up E6-B computer are standard on both panels. Easy one-step install.
This is a fictional repaint of a DC-7B, modified for pylon racing, inspired by the feat of Clay Lacy, who raced a gutted DC-7 freighter "Super Snoopy" in the 1977 Reno air races... download the Reno2.zip scenery, this is getting hard to find these days, so it will take some looking, and take her for a spin.
This version has been created by using Abacus' Flight Simulator Design Studio version 2.24. Features include full moving parts including undercarriage suspension, fuel gauge, compass, control surfaces and reflective textures. Flight dynamics constructed using the cut, paste and pray method. Its whole purpose is to have fun and is not meant to represent an exact replica of the orig aircraft in any shape or form.
A very rare version of a Radial Widgeon. 450hp P&W R-985 engines gives solid performance on a rather light aircraft. VC has night lighting and custom XML gauges, a switch to move the yoke out of the way, rain effects, and much more. Exterior model weighs in at just under 18,000 polys. Clean mesh and tight texture maps allows this high detail model to run very smooth. Engine temperature management is required to prevent overheating, dont forget the cowl flaps! Airfiles are scratch built, and meet the few numbers I could find for this rare version of the Widgeon. Custom sounds, big and beefy... but a good custom set would replace it. Many hours into this project, I hope you enjoy it so far. Happy flyin!

Historie: Derived from three-seater Levasseur PL4 (reconnaissance aircraft) of the Naval Aviation, the PL8 "White Dove" is especially built by the firm of Pierre Levasseur, for the raid PARIS - New York, envisage by Charles Nungesser and François Coli. It is under the direction of the chief of studies Emile Farret and the works manager Albert Longelot, that work for the realization of the PL8 was executate. For the achievement of the raid, the fuselage was widens in order to be able to placed in "coast at coast" the pilot and the navigator, the hull was redrawn, the two front places are removed in order to be able to install the three enormous tanks and to thus carry the capacity of fuel to the 4025 liters necessary to the long crossing envisaged." Nothing is left randomly, the engine is tested during 43 hours in Chartres, what makes it possible to the technicians to appreciate its capacities, its consumption and to thus calculate the potential distance which it can carry out with its fuel reserve.
