The Piaggio P.180 Avanti is a high-speed high-efficiency turboprop aircraft. Capable of speeds up to 395 KTAS (or M0.68) up to its service ceiling of 41,000 feet. This performance is achieved by extreme aerodynamic optimization instead of sheer power.

The end result is an aircraft that burns 40% less fuel than the average jet of comparable size while flying at the same speed range, or 30% less than an equivalent size turboprop, as it flies much faster.

The pusher propellers on the wings mounted much backward thanks to the forward wing set make it a comfortable and quiet ride for the passengers, that also enjoy a very spacious cabin for an aircraft of this size.

  • Missing Recognition light effect: the file was mistakenly not included in the 3.0 release

  • Passenger removed from cabin
  • Heading indicator/gyro now automatically synchronizes periodically.
  • Loading time reduced: CAB gauge is now packed properly
  • Autopilot ALT Mode misbehavior: this function now performs as intended.
  • Added high-resolution cabin & cockpit textures.

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

Like the previous post by Erich, installed perfectly, and looks great but I cannot get the engines to start either. Given the glowing comments, I must be doing something wrong. Running this model in P3D V5.3 with all hotfixes. I've tried everything from E to individual panel controls to physical controls via SPAD.next. I am very experienced with flight simulation but unless anyone has a suggestion, at this point it is a no go for P3D V5.3 users.

    This has become my favorite aircraft in FSX. It shouldn't be freeware. It does have a few quarks like an occasional glitch that causes the controls to seize up, but if you fly without the LVL, FD, and YD on autopilot (Which you can fly without all three) it works fine. Everything is clickable in the cabin, which is amazing. And I love Kirby as it's a throwback to my SNES days. TOP NOTCH FREEWARE!!

    Hi,

    The plane is announced as functional in FSX:SE.

    It has a fine exterior modeling and flight model. The 3D panel has no sharp textures.

    The installation readme(s) are really not easy; I'm not sure about my install in my Steam sim.

    The readme for the additional WX and TCAS gauges lists manual steps for FS 2002 only, but based on a B767 airplane?!

    FS 2004 seems to be unsupported, as the author says.

    I use FSX:SE; it isn't even mentioned in the readmes. Installation of these additional software components is not possible with the given explanations.

    And I get a warning when starting that FSUIPC is needed, but my installed version (4.974) is not compatible with the plane.

    Consequence: After loading an airport and the P180 the sim shuts down immediately after the first view.

    Possibly caused by the additional gauge; I deleted the WX and TCAS files—no success.

    Sometimes after several trials the plane flies and you have fun.

    I think a "MEGA Pack" needs an installer for all components or at least an update of the readmes.

    Hope someone here has a solution to stop the crashes? (I don't need the extra gauges).

    Discrepancies: Flies well, but I noticed the following:

    1. Taxi lights (note: will not extend down and stay).
    2. Engines (note: I can shut off engine #2 but not #1).
    3. How do I set the heading bug?
    4. No landing lights and no nav lights.

    I need a fix if possible!

    5. The rear landing gear fold in to soon and vanish thru the doors?

    I need a fix, I want to rate it high, and one day fly the real thing.
