A complete Boeing 747 cargo/freighter package for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D featuring over 32 liveries from real-world cargo airlines.

UPS 747 Freighter in Prepar3D v5.​This package has been tested and confirmed compatible with all versions of FSX including the Steam Edition and all versions of Prepar3D including the latest P3Dv5.

The original model of the Boeing 747-4F is from Project Opensky (POSKY) and is quite possibly one of the most well-known 747 freeware models available. It has been used by thousands of virtual aviators for flight sim use over the years.

The POSKY model has always been super heavy and hard to turn on taxiways and ramps. Sometimes it would seem as if the aircraft was on ice - not responding to nosewheel turning at all and skidding across the ground. It also always felt too "heavy" to fly and was very non-responsive.

While the 747 is indeed a true heavy, the POSKY model always seemed to over-do how heavy it really was. We have made some adjustments to the model to bring some sharpness to the flight dynamics and ground handling. Now it's easier to taxi and more responsive in flight.

Now you can perform freight flights around the world, simulating the air transporter industry in your flight sim package.

The model features an opening nose cargo area along with additional loading bays/doors as can be seen in the video and screenshots above. The package also features a fully working and complete 3D VC (virtual cockpit) which is complete and we have noticed is most appreciated by current adopters of flight sim. This aircraft does not feature a 2D panel in P3D.

The video above was produced in P3Dv4 but the aircraft is fully compatible with the latest Prepar3D v5.

Installation

To Install in FSX (all versions including Steam Edition) and Prepar3D (all versions including v4 and v5):

  1. Extract the entire archive into a folder on your computer.
  2. Move the folder "Boeing 747-400F Freighter Mega Pack" into your FSX or Prepar3D "SimObjects\Airplanes" folder.

The aircraft are now visible and usable in your simulator.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

    Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.

  3. Verify in FSX

    Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

So difficult to steer. Also any time I try to load one of these, it bounces, the front wheel collapses, and sparks and smoke from the front and rear. Pity. I started with a different plane and then change flights. On the ground every change of view makes the plane jump.

    confirmed, having to taxi with the engines. Adding that the front gear also doesn't retract when you gear up.

    I rated this model low because ground steering is nearly impossible, plus I can't find a course selector for GPS navigation and the ILS approach.

    It's a great job. The plane works very well with all those features that have been added to the plane. Thank you very much for your kindness. Frankly, everything works perfectly. The cockpit is huge with excellent capabilities for weak devices, it works very efficiently The tints and the quality of the exterior design are very excellent Everything is great

    Assuming you talk about the 2D cockpit panels If this problem appears only for this Add-on you might have to take a look in the configuration file(s), located in one of the panel directories

    The graphics and sound for this aircraft are phenomenal. However, taxing the aircraft is impossible. Any ideas to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    The icon for the electrical panel will not work. The first time clicked it just flashes a blue square and then no response after.

    Seems to have a mind of its own when steering on the ground. PFD is not correct when in VC mode, the characters are not all in the display. It's nice to fly, handles well and the engine sound is great.

    The grey cockpit looks hideous and unrealistic. The default brownish one is better. Other than that awesome package.
