FSX Airports Of Norway Scenery

FSX Scenery Airports Of Norway v2.95. New update, now with 24 airports, and 33 new, realistic Gmax models with high resolution textures. New runway/taxiway layouts based on AIP and satellite photos. New flattens and landclass. Most of the new gmax models at ENCN, ENLI, ENZV plus a few at the northern airports. Airports: ENFG, ENGM, ENRY, ENTO, ENSN, ENCN, ENLI, ENZV, ENHD, ENSO, ENBM, ENSG, ENML, ENKB, ENNM, ENMS, ENEV, ENTC, ENDU, ENAT, ENSK, ENNA, ENHF and ENKR. As before: Do not overwrite old folders, replace the old one with this one. Note: Separate 20 cm photoscenery (very sharp), for Oslo Gardermoen airport (AON_GROUND.ZIP).

KNOWN "BUGS":

At Gardermoen, I am not going to draw roads behind the terminal as I use Ultimate Terrain Europe for this. Meaning, using FSX default scenery will have some of the roads missing. I will upload a photoscenery in short time which fixes all this.

You will se unfinished textures here and there, but it is very subtle. As this package is always in development, there will always be a few things not 100%. If everything was to be perfect, the package would never be uploaded.

IMPORTANT:

I highly recommend the Runway Markings Switcher for realism. It is two small batch files that switches runway markings from white to yellow and back. Note that this switches the texture for *all FSX airports*, but it can even be used while FSX is running (by using ALT + ENTER for windowed mode, then switch the texture), and is included here in a separate zip file (Norwegian_RWY_Markings_FSX.zip). Check the pdf document for how to use. It explains how to switch the texture without having to use windowed mode.

For how to setup Norway as realistic as possible, check NScenicUTE.txt provided with this package. This "recipe" will give you Norway Scenic X coastlines in Norway, and at the same time keep UTE intact for Norway and the rest of Europe.

NOTE (1):

If you got UTXE with Patch 1.2: Start the UTXE Setup. Menu -> Ultimate Terrain -> Modify Status of Relocated Airports. Disable ENGM.

OR: Go to FSX\Scenery\UtEurAirports\Scenery and DELETE ENGM_FL and ENGM_AP.

NOTE (2):

Even if you have the previous version, unzip the effects again, as I have changed the colour of the lighting.

INSTALLATION:

Unzip the scenery to a temporary folder.

If you got my ATN_Airports, AT_Airports or FSX Airports Norway, disable the scenery from inside FSX, then exit FSX and DELETE the folder from FSX\Addon Scenery.

Add Airports of Norway to FSX\Addon Scenery, then start FSX and add it to the Scenery Library. Place it somewhere near top in the list.

Recommended Mesh Resolution: Min 36 meters, best at 19 meters.

Recommended Scenery Density: DENSE.

INSTALLATION OF APRON LIGHTING:

Unzip Effects.zip to your main FSX folder. Say yes to overwrite.

INSTALLATION OF ENGM TEXTURE FIXES:

Fixes tower lighting at night, and makes the old terminal less yellow daytime.

Make a backup of the files engm_map04_lm.dds and engm_map08.dds. They can be found in FSX\Scenery\EURW\Texture.

From the "Extras" folder:

Move the files engm_map04_lm.dds and engm_map08.dds to FSX\Scenery\EURW\Texture. Say YES to overwrite the old files.

RUNWAY TEXTURE SWITCHER:

This tool switches the runway texture colour from white to yellow, and back to white.

Please read the separate pdf included in Runway_Texture_Switcher_FSX.zip.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR THOSE WHO USE ULTIMATE TERRAIN COASTLINES:

I do not use these, I use the Norway Scenic X coastlines, as those look more natural.

Those who still want to use UTE coastlines in Norway, MUST use Molde ENML and Tromsø ENTC from AoN_v2.6, which is included in a separate folder, AoN_v26 UTE. Please see the separate readme in this folder. There will be no more development for UTE coastlines in Norway.

IF YOU WANT TO USE OTHER ADDON AIRPORTS THAN IN THIS PACKAGE:

Just delete the files in Airports of Norway\Scenery that starts with the airport ICAO code. Simple as that.

A WORD ON AI:

FS9 had a flat earth, FSX has a round earth. This also means all airports have been moved, and the reason some freeware AI planes land too early or do other crazy stuff, is often FS9 flightplans not properly converted to FSX with the proper tools. The airports are not at fault. WOAI questions should be directed to the WOAI site. I have no clue myself, as I use Ultimate traffic II.

This scenery package is freeware and shall remain so. Distribution without my authorization is not permitted. This scenery shall not be used for commercial purposes.
