The new system sounds quite spectacular and this is borne out by the screenshots which appear to show close-up high detail presently impossible in FS2004. I couldn't persuade the video to download.
The memory demand must be enormous and having only bought a new pc within the past year I am reluctant to replace it with a machine having all the hardware to operate the new system effectively.
I am quite happy with Windows XP and in any event I would not switch to another operating system on my present pc at least for the first couple of years following introduction, it then.
I have quite a few additional scenery, airport and terrain add-ons which would be of no relevance to FSX and it wouldn't make sense to consider them redundant. The Microsoft upgrade of 2004 improved limitations to some extent by adding useful navigational features, perhaps what we really need is another upgrade to carry on with the good work. There aren't all that many but I noted yesterday that having the docks at Tilbury, the Dartford M25 crossing and Greenwich college made it much easier to locate and approach London (City).
So, I guess the reality is - yes, it would be very pleasant to own FSX but economically it makes little sense to spend open-ended amounts of money to get it. When I can fly perfectly in FS2004 it might then be possible to move on. |

Mustangfreak,
Who's said anything about FS2006 in this thread?
I agree, though. It won't be ready within the end of this year, I'm sure.
I, too, am overly excited about FSX - I just hope the screenshots represent the level of detail we can actually expect.Best regards,
Øyvind Svedman |
