If this
Thanks to the fact that the game will be released only on DVD (rather than the 4+ CD-ROM releases of the past), the developers were able to make everything up to 16 times more detailed this time around.
and anything else in this article is true, http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/flight-simulator-x/679528p1.html ----how could I possibly not be a convert already?

It certainly sheds at least some light on Vista requirements. But how do you conclude that we need Vista in order to run FSX? Umm...

From one of the videos Arrow

"Flight Simulator X is the culmination of nearly 25 years of the landmark Flight Simulator franchise and the most significant addition to date. Flight Simulator X will be fully optimized for Windows Vista.

Not essential to have Vista, but how much will be lost by running it under XP?

I realise I am in a minority, currently v happy running FS9 with WIN 2000 PRO. I wonder if anyone has posed the obvious question with Windows/
FSX gurus? ie: will FSX support my OS?

Ahh yes, another opportunity for Microshaft to monopolize the market with their "Optimizations." I guess it's a damn good thing I'm throwing 2200$ into a new PC in about 2 months. Rolling Eyes

You'll have to upgrade your OS sooner rather than later anyway, to XP at least. If your hardware can handle a more recent OS you'll find that computing becomes easier all around. Hack Very Happy

One thing worries me about the way this has all been presented,
FSX was included because they were showing what Vista can do
This was a Vista demo and not a FSX demo

Now we all know how hungry Win XP is on our PCs Evil or Very Mad but watching the Vista demo http://fsinsider.com/ and all its fancy see through windows and clever animations and video from the taskbar, there will be plenty of PC users out there with fairly new PCs that will struggle with Vista

The way I see it at the moment is forget about upgrading for FSX.Our next MAJOR upgrade will be to run Vista Shocked

Are we talking duel core CPUs Question ,one to run Vista the other to run FSX Question or anything else Dont Know

I know this is just me thinking aloud and based on nothing but a hunch Rolling Eyes

Anyway, those are my thoughts Rolling Eyes
Oh one last thing,I still think we watched a carefully staged video of FSX with him pretending to use an Xbox controller as the developer video shows the same thing Shocked Arrow

I pray not cos I haven't a clue what they are Wacko Sounds like it is going to be cheaper to buy a whole new computer, especially if you haven't a clue what your doing Umm... I'm sure a lot of people are going to be persuaded to stick with FS9 if it really is that complicated to change one piece of software....

TTT your right on.
It's going to take a new system and I would wait until Vista comes out to buy the hardware, or better yet, wait for FSX and then the hardware will be better and hopefully cheaper.
Then load Vista and FSX.
