I agree with biggly....forget the PC man, i recommend Mac OSX 10.4 and X-Plane. Great simulator with real weather downloading every second, clouds and scenery wildy roaming about the sky, and at Least a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, rudder controls, throttle, and 12 customizable buttons can get you pretty stoked to want to fly on your Mac. Plus X-Plane has loads and loads of new aircraft downloads, and loads and loads of new scenery and weather simulations.

by the way...there is a big reason that Flight Gear is free, i give props to the creators, but it doesn't come close to FSX or X-Plane( the ones you pay at least $100 on). FlightGear runs ok, but there's no real way to navigate through planes and scenery. I also recommend a Yoke and maybe some pedals if you really want to pilot experience.
