Stripes on runway after installing FS9 in Win2000

Hi... I have tried almost every conceivable approach to getting rid of the horizontal colored stripes that appear on the runway at various distances. This occurs after a new installation of Windows 2000 and FS9. I am running a Pentium IV, 2.4G speed with 768 meg of ram at 1024 X 768 resolution at 32 bits. I have changed every setting but to no avail. Is there a simple fix for this or is it my setup? Thanks
