Has anyone had any luck running FlyII under Windows XP? I have had limited success but the graphics are terrible.

I've run both on XP home running an 850 Athlon. framerates were ok on the original Fly but the upgraded Fly 2 version was terrible on frame rates. I was lucky to get 5 or 6 fps with graphics and textures set to midpoint. Setting all on the lowest range improved rates to 10 to 12 fps but still too slow to feel any sense of realism. I had a high end nvidea graphics card but I suspect a faster processor would improve performance somewhat. FS 2004 running on this same box gave me 22 to 34 rates with a camparable aircraft. I dumped Fly when I upgraded my motherboard to a 2.8 AMD. FS 2004 now runs like a champ.; very impressed with its performance.

Hi!

I've been running Fly! II on XP for years and I get some good 20+ FPS. I have an Athlon XP1700, 3/4Gig RAM and a GeForce4 128Mb video board.

Head over to the Main Fly! forum at avsim and you'll find quite a comprehensive FAQ. If that still doesn't help, post a message and you'll get an answer very shortly.

By the way, have you patched Fly! to the very latest version 2.5.240?

"See" you at Avsim.

Regards,
