A configurator utility is now available for FSGlobal 2005 users to fix problems with high resolution terrain data in the default scenery. For more information, click on Read More.
Microsoft has added some very small patches of high resolution terrain data to the default scenery, for example covering the city of Athens (Greece), the Kilimanjaro in Tanzania or Mt. Fuji in Japan. These data may override the FSGlobal 2005 terrain in certain configurations, so that only default scenery is visible in these places. This leads to ugly scenery borders where these Microsoft default mesh ends.
After some user feedback and testing we decided to release a Configurator to disable these default meshes since they are less precise than FSGlobal 2005.
Using this Configurator you can deactivate some of the default terrain files. They are not deleted, of course, but they are renamed from BGL to BG_, so that Flight Simulator won't use them anymore. The files remain in their directories and may be reactivated at any time using this Configurator again.
Additionally to the local high-resolution terrain we deactivate some low resolution terrain which is not needed with FSGlobal 2005. This has a positive impact on Flight Simulator performance (frame rates).
