Emirates, the largest Airbus A380 customer with 43 orders, announced Friday that the aircraft, which has a two years delivery delay, is 5.5 tonnes too heavy. Its Chairman Tim Clarke will send a team of 8 technicians to Airbus plants in Toulouse and Hamburg to evaluate the new delivery schedule. In another development, Emirates has cancelled an order for 10 A340-600s, considered as obsolete. In April the airline had already declared that it would delay the order in expectation for a version that would use less kerosene.
