AlphaSim Kamov Ka-27/32 'Helix' Released (FS2004/FSX)

Posted on

The little Kamov was used by many Soviet-aligned navies as well as civilian operators after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the AlphaSim package provides the perfect mix of military and civilian models - five Navy Ka-27PS models from around the world combine with three civilian Ka-32's.

Even race-specific crew are used to highlight the truly international flavour of the Helix in today's world. The eight unique tetxure sets are detailed and have just the right amount of 'weathering' applied. The FSX model, as usual, sports amazing effects - bump mapping, env-mapped glass, bloom flash and of course self-shadowing make the co-axial rotor-driven Kamov look amazingly real. A custom Helix soundset and a superb rendition of the panel and gauges will thrill any FS helicopter fan. The VC includes the rear cabin and the doors (all four of them) are all animated, as is the lowerable winch cable. The flight model was exceptionally difficult to create, you will find near-perfect straight line flight with almost zero torque effect - the main reason for the co-ax design. This release is for FSX and FS2004. Complete details and screenshots can be viewed on the AlphaSim News Page.
