Flight Simulator Air Racing Announces Plans

Posted on

Flight Simulator Air Racing is a new organization that plans to hold online interactive multiplayer air races using FS2004 primarily but also using FS2002. For more information, click on Read More.

Ever since the first multiplayer compatible flight sims, friends have gotten together, and done various type of air racing. If it be racing around an airfield, flying x-country, or doing some type of pylon racing. The pilots that have done this, know the thrill, and excitement of air racing, if it be off, or online.

Over the years, there have been countless air racing organizations, aimed at multiplayer air racing, both online, and offline. Some of these have been open to the public, while others focused on a small group, or squadron or invited racing pilots. Some of these have had organized racing schedules, while others just got together once in a while. Each and every organization that has come, and gone, have been different. Among the most famous of these organizations, have been the "Flight Sim Pilots Racing Association" (FSPRA) and the  "Battle of the Airlines" (BOTA). Both of these organizations have been, and will be very successful in the future. Please note, that at least up until this point, these organizations have run races offline. Currently, FSPRA is temporarily on hold, while BOTA is looking toward their next race in 2004.

My organization, "Flight Simulator Air Racing" (FSAR) is aimed at not only multiplayer air racing, but online, interactive multiplayer air racing. Although there have been, and still are organizations with that same aim, none of them have focused on racing and developing their own, realistic, and accurate representations of real aircraft and scenery. This is what makes FSAR different.

Currently, we are working on several of the most accurate, and  realistic air racing aircraft that have been produced in a flight simulator. Our first aircraft, which is still top secret, is a complete rework of a popular WWII fighter. The original aircraft has been available for download at most, if not all of the major flight sim websites, including FlightSim.Com. There have also been several repaints of this original aircraft posted here at FlightSim.Com. The original designer has allowed us to rework his original source files. A few very famous designers, and developers are also helping us with this production.

Several variants of these aircraft are being produced, many of them are highly accurate representations of real aircraft that raced in the late 1940s. Of course, there will also be fictional variants produced, with custom skins.

Our add-ons are being developed for Flight Simulator 2004 "Century of Flight", yet we will also FS2002 versions available.

All of our add-ons will be 100% freeware downloads.

Our primary goal for FSAR is to bring the highest quality, free, air racing add-ons to the flight sim community. However, we are not a developing organization, we are an air racing organization. So we are also going to be having full seasons of organized online air racing in FS2004.

I expect FSAR to grow into a very organized, very fun, and realistic air racing organization, that will always be free to the public, and  open to anyone who uses the current versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator. I expect that one day, we will be used by real world air racing pilots, as a source of not only a good time during the off season, but also a training aid. There are already real-world pilots would like to eventually compete in our organization.

Don't be fooled, this stuff costs a lot of time, money, and effort to bring to the public, therefore with limited resources, progress is always slow. Since FSAR is free to the public, and since we don't use any ad campaign to make money, we are lacking a little financially.
