NVIDIA released new official drivers for Windows 2000/XP and Windows 98/ME. The 45.23 drivers are WHQL certified and cure the display problem in FS2004 with the FX card series where the 2D panel was blacked out.
Many people reported problems with their display in FS2004 when using the NVIDIA FX card series. The 2D panel of their display would be distorted or even completely blacked out. Often, during the middle of a game, the display would go black without any warning whatsoever.
The technical support staff at NVIDIA fielded numerous complaints, and their programmers quickly went to work identifying the problem and coming up with a solution. The new drivers released by NVIDIA are intended for Windows 2000/XP and Windows 98/ME. (Users with newer operating systems did not experience the problems with their displays.) The 45.23 drivers are WHQL certified. WHQL testing is Microsoft's testing process. It involves running several tests on third-party software or hardware, and then submitting the log files from the testing to Microsoft for review.
Products that pass these tests are then allowed to use the "Certified for Windows" logo. Device drivers that pass the WHQL are given a digitally signed certification file that prevents 32-bit versions of Microsoft Vista and all versions of Microsoft XP from displaying a warning message that the driver has not been ceritifed by Microsoft. To download these drivers, users must visit the NVIDIA website at www.nvidia.com. From there, select the country from which you are accessing the site. On the next page, find the NVIDIA logo in the upper left-hand corner of the page. Directly below it is the word "drivers". Hover over this word, and two options appear. Click on the second, "All NVIDIA Drivers." There are two options here.
You can manually find the driver you need by entering the Product Type, Series, and Operating System, or you can automatically find drivers for the NVIDIA products installed on your computer. The software will walk you through the download and installation process. After installing your updated driver, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
