FAI World Grand Prix Competition

Posted on

Brett Goldsmith has announced the intention to form a new team of virtual aerobatic pilots to compete with other similiar teams starting in 2004. For full details, click on Read More.

To those who follow real world aerobatics, the Haute Voltige Aerobatics Grand Prix at Motegi Japan is a major event, with the world's best aerobatic pilots flying their performances. All the winners of the 2003 World Aerobatic Championships will be participating.

Recently a partnership/sponsorship has formed between the PAV (of which I had been a member) and they became the Virtual Haute Voltige Formation Team. They plan on giving a live performance at Motegi Japan, and are seeking teams to compete with in 2004 when the competition will begin.

The FAI World Grand Prix competition is open to VIRTUAL formation teams flying FB. I have always been into sims for the purpose of aerobatics, and had on a few occasions set up little teams, but they never REALLY got into it. The PAV were different, and during my involvement with a full five pilot team I solidified my feelings that this was the most challenging, most rewarding, most intense, and most beautiful thing that can be done with a flightsim.

I am posting here because I want to see this take off. I will also be speaking to airshow friends and other pilots that I know, posting in other sim forums...I really want to see the niche market of flightsims taken to a new level! Unreal Tournament and all of those have competitions...and they pay...yet flightsims...they are never in the mainstream, I think this can change that.

I am looking to form a new team of my own, comprised of US pilots (or I should say, pilots on a similar sleep cycle and with a good connection, it was tough to fly with an Italian team very often, given that I am in California). Finding pilots who fit the bill is tough, so I intend on bumping this thread a few times, and hopefully getting some of the other groups out there to attend, as well as finding people who aren't in a team as of yet.

This will be serious and intense competition, and will require teams comprised of commited individuals...start training now!

If you would like to try out some formation aerobatics PM me, or visit the TX site and let's fly!
