The Queen and Gordon Brown Buying Aircraft

Posted on

The Queen and the members of the royal family is going to have their own £3 million private jet to cut the cost of their traveling bill. The new plane will be exclusive only for the queen and the royal family only and will not fly the government ministers.

In 2008 Gordon Brown was looking into buy a similar Air Force One type plane, which is similar to the planes used to fly the President of the United States.

The Queen started to look into a new plane after the Royal Family spent nearly £193,000 chartering aircraft due to the brake down of the 32 Squadron planes which are nearly 20 years old and are too unreliable.

Royal household source told The Daily Telegraph: “The Queen is naturally thrifty so we always try to reduce our running costs. The planes from 32 Squadron are not always available as ministers may need them at short notice and they have an operational role in the Middle East.

The decision to buy or lease a plane is still being decided the plans will be confirmed sometime in March or April 2010. Until then the queen is to still share the plane with the government ministers and rely on the 32 Squadron planes.
