Team SDB Release RAF Station Driffield Scenery for FSX & FS2004

Posted on Sun, 01 Aug 2010 08:03:40 GMT

RAF DriffieldAnnounced from flight simulator scenery developer Team SDB is their rendition of the RAF Station Driffield scenery add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and 2004.  The scenery includes many enhancements and accurate buildings, vehicles and ground textures for the airfield.

New from Team SDB is RAF Station Driffield, 4 Group Bomber Command.

Reopened in 1936 RAF Driffield was a typical "Expansion Period" airfield and the technical site buildings and hangars in the scenery are representative of the design of the period. The airfield is laid out accurately using Air Ministry aerial photos. The technical site and 4 C type hangars (the fifth was bombed early in the war) lie to the east with the bomb stores on the north side.

AI Halifax bombers of 466 and 462 Sqns RAAF are in residence with a Halifax of 462 Sqn performing touch and goes and ten Halifaxes of 466 Sqn taking off around 20:45 destination 'unknown' to return in the early hours the following morning.

Scenery includes:

  • Tractors and bomb trains
  • RAF vehicles
  • Full perimeter fencing
  • NDB and runway lighting (to aid your safe return)
