3D Train Stuff has announced the release of the long awaited The Cambrian Route - A Seaside Journey for Microsoft Train Simulator. The route is 73 miles long and includes six new diesel and steam trainsets, new custom day and night cabviews, custom sounds, 23 freight and passenger activities, 30 pieces of new rolling stock, and loads of spectacular scenery.

The Cambrian Route is a new ground-breaking add-on with 78 miles of Cambrian mainline, including coastal section from Machynlleth to Pwllheli and Dovey Junction to Aberystwyth.

The route is adapted for both diesel and steam operations and contains new terrain textures and unique landmarks. Priced at $27.05, this exciting, new add-on boasts of breathtakingly picturesque, beautiful scenery including spectacular mountains, rivers and coastal scenery with clever 3D designer sets featuring Harlech Castle, Criccieth Station, Barmoth Bridge, double-decker buses with lighted interiors, road vehicles with front and backlights, people, telegraph poles and many more visual delights which look detailed and incredibly realistic.

The add-on also features snow-storms and blizzards which have a very authentic feel and a convincing look. The simulation of Great Welsh Blizzard of 1982 is excellently done. Night scenes also look equally stunning due to properly done lighting of buildings and platforms generating a compelling illusion. There are plenty of varied activities to do including diesel and steam operations, nine passenger activities and fourteen freight activities which keep you thoroughly occupied.

A completely signaled, single track mainline operation makes running of the train easy and without any unnecessary complications allowing you to explore the scenic surroundings at a leisurely pace. It also allows realistic timetable operation making the route very suitable for passenger operations.

The route is varied enough to provide scope for both – speed running up to nearly 60 miles per hours and slow, challenging journey over a steep, hilly terrain.

Also included in this add-on are 30 new pieces of custom rolling stock which look fantastic. The route can be upgraded with six more activities available as free download.

These activities are

  • driving the 1230 summer Saturday only service from Pwllheli to Barmouth
  • driving the 2045 Machynlleth to Pwllheli Service
  • taking a train of rocks to Tywyn for the construction of sea defences during 1962
  • driving the delayed 0730 service from Aberystwyth to Shrewsbury and Machynlleth
  • driving the cattle train from Pwllheli to Tywyn
  • driving the GWR explosive train from Penrhyndeudraeth to Machynlleth.
