PAD was founded in 1995 by Barry Blaisdell, and the company’s website was set up in 1999. For more than a decade, PAD has released many original Flight Simulator aircraft models. The website offers downloads of 24 freeware FSX aircraft and 34 FS2004 aircraft of a wide variety, as well as several sub-models. The PAD website offers free help and advice for users, and it also hosts selected repaints.
The announcement indicated that Barry Blaisdell is now taking a back seat regarding day to day operations of the website due to poor health. It was also stated in the press release that Jean-Pierre Brisard is now in charge of model production and packaging, and Bob May will carry on Barry's objective of creating comprehensive and realistic FS models and panels. Bob May’s goal is to continue with PAD’s primary goal – make models that are robust enough to hold the interest of committed simmers and also easy enough for beginners.
Since this press release was made, there have been some new developments. An announcement on the PAD website http://www.premaircraft.com/ indicates that Barry is now fully retired from active participation and Jean-Pierre Brisard, who designed PAD’s FSX models and most of PAD’s FS2004 models, has sadly passed on. PAD announced that due to these developments, the company is scaling down its operations.
The announcement on the website indicated that PAD will not be making any new models but the website will remain open for downloads, support queries and for the distribution of repaints.
