Joao Vareta, the CEO of TAP Virtual, announced that the company will introduce its restructured image – it will run a new flights and pilots management/operation system and launch a new website.

Flight Operation System (FOS) is TAP’s new and advanced conception software which will administratively manage the company. The software incorporates several functions, and represents a powerful and entirely new flight management and pilot’s assessment platform.
It has taken three years for Carlos Godinho and Carlos Bandeira and the company’s staff to develop the software. David Mestrinho, a real TAP PORTUGAL pilot, monitored the progress throughout the creation phase of the software.
FOS covers a wide variety of aeronautical knowledge and operation of airbus aircrafts. The software has been tested by a group of very dedicated and motivated Beta testers. This rigorous testing means that the FOS/ TAP LOG software will meet all the requirements of a modern add-on.
The software also observes, assesses, and promotes the pilots within the company based on comprehensive operational criteria. FOS boosts pilots’ performance – it rewards pilots who fly in an online environment with a highly innovative Efficiency Points system.
TAP indicated that the potential for FOS and TAP LOG is unlimited – whether in the national or international panorama. The software integrates numerous functions and offers company pilots a wide range of flights, and diversified aircraft operation supporting documents are provided.
TAP stated that the system is only available to TAP Virtual pilots. There are some compulsory qualifications, namely Oceanic, Funchal, Horta and Bissau. Written and practical Type Ratings are also used to certify pilots in the respective aircrafts. Following the implementation of FOS and TAP LOG, the company’s Operations Manual has been changed significantly in order to match the new career progression in TAP Virtual.
TAP Virtual hopes to make a significant contribution to the new era in air simulation through challenging pilots to improve their performance within a national and international simulation community.
