Beagle Galapagos Mission
The Team
During 2009 and 2010, the FScene team published a new series of free Flight Simulator X Missions. The team worked in collaboration with Ruud Faber, Jaap van Hees, Chip Barber and Francois Dumas who are considered to be international flight simulation veterans. FScene team and these veterans have cooperated on this project – putting their expertise, experience and enthusiasm to create the "Beagle" series.
Galapagos Missions offers the user an opportunity to enjoy the work of another two masters of FS creativity:
- Chuck Jodry – he allows simulators to use one of his beautiful Jeep creations
- Justin Tyme – he developed a stunning Galapagos Islands environment for these missions
The Theme
Galapagos Missions are inspired by the 35-part Radio/TV series of VPRO, a Dutch Radio/TV station. The goal behind the theme was to celebrate Charles Darwin's 200th birth year and the 150th anniversary of his publication of "On the Origin of Species".
The mission follows Charles Darwin's voyage on the "Beagle" (1831-1836). The clipper "Stad Amsterdam" has left Plymouth on the first of September 2009 for an 8 months' expedition around the world, and it is packed with writers, scientist and artists. Users are invited to join the adventure and offer a hand. The voyage and its team need new instruments, medicines and food, which are to be supplied by air. For the user, you are the aircraft captain and it is your responsibility to resupply the ship. There is a wide range of aircraft which you will fly over many different seas and terrain.
There are four free FScene "Beagle" missions available, namely Beagle Spain (Part 1), Beagle Spain (Part 2), Beagle Brazil (Part 1) and Beagle Brazil (Part 2). Players of all levels of experience can use this – the missions are simply for fun, and are not meant as challenges.
