General Juan N. Álvarez International Airport, also known as Acapulco International Airport, is an aviation facility located 26 km from Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. The airport is the largest international airport in the country's southern Pacific region, and one of the largest air facilities in Mexico. Acapulco International Airport is one of the top 15 airports in Mexico in terms of passengers and operations, and it receives many international charter flights.
The airport is an important gateway into Southern Mexico – it handled 736,878 passengers in 2010. It can accommodate jets up to the size of the Boeing 747. The airport serves Acapulco, an essential resort and recreation area in Southern Mexico.
