The BN-2 Islander is a British mainline airliner, light utility aircraft, and cargo aircraft. Britten-Norman designed and initially manufactured the aircraft. The BN-2 Islander is one of the best-selling European commercial aircraft types. Although it was designed in the 1960s, there are 750 BN-2 Islanders currently in service. The Police and Army forces in the United Kingdom use this aircraft. More than 30 military aviation operators also use the aircraft for light cargo transport.
The aircraft’s simple and rugged looks makes it suitable for daily operations, in all types of weather conditions. The Islander is a twin-engine aircraft with 30kts cross-wind limit and IFR cockpit fitment.
The team at Flight1 collaborated with real-world BN-2 Islander pilots to create this simulated FSX version. The add-on includes several technologies, namely HDR bloom effects, cockpit self-shadowing, and bump mapping. It has internal and external visuals that are compatible with DX10.
The main good points about this aircraft add-on are:
- It is perfect for pilots who want to operate a simulated transport service between islands or feeder airliner flights, or just want to have some fun.
- It is an accurate representation of the real-world counterpart.
- It is a versatile aircraft that can go anywhere in FSX. You can fly across different islands, or land in remote and rugged locations – anywhere you want.
