SITA Changes Baggage Tracing Service for Chinese Speakers

Posted on Tue, 11 Sep 2012 23:00:00 GMT

SITA, the leading specialist in air transport communications and information technology, has announced that it has implemented some changes to its lost baggage tracing service in order to customize it for Chinese speakers.

This change is expected to shorten the time required to train local baggage agents for Chinese carriers.

As China plays an increasingly important role in global business and trade, Chinese-connecting flights, both international and domestic, are expected to increase.

It is estimated that by 2015, Chinese-connecting flights will account for 25% of the projected 877 million increase in worldwide passenger numbers. This makes it essential to have an effective luggage tracing system in China.

SITA has modified its WorldTracer service so that it features agent interfaces and support materials in Chinese as well as English. This will help to maintain global passenger standards across all regions and countries.

Ilya Gutlin, SITA Asia-Pacific president, said,

English is the official language of the industry. But we felt that localising WorldTracer for the Chinese market would speed its adoption in this growing region.
