Dave Hilfman, senior vice-president of sales at United Airlines, said,

The airline is set to receive 787-8s before the end of 2012, and currently has orders for 36 787-8s and 14 787-9s.
United Airlines will fly its first Boeing 787-8 on several domestic routes that have a wide body service. After that, the aircraft it will be placed on its existing route between Houston Intercontinental and Lagos, Nigeria. The 787 will also be used to a new service between Denver and Tokyo Narita, which is scheduled for March 2013.
United Airline’s 219-seat 787-8 features 36 fully lie-flat business-class seats in a two-two-two configuration, 72 economy plus seats and 111 economy seats in a three-three-three configuration.
The in-seat in-flight entertainment system for the aircraft was provided by Panasonic, and each seat has Audio video on demand service. United Airlines is currently working with Boeing to find an ideal in-flight Wi-Fi for the 787-8.
