The National Railway Museum is the biggest of its type in the world. Its permanent displays and collections are the most comprehensive and significant in their field. Including the world's oldest steam engine, the record-breaking Mallard and the Evening Star of the 1960s, the NRM is the world's largest collection of railway icons and draws 100,000s of visitors each year.
Just Flight's Managing Director, Mungo Amyatt-Leir, explains: "Anyone who visits the NRM in York is awed by the locomotives on display, with the Mallard being perhaps the queen of their collection. With a brilliant virtual recreation of the Mallard in the Trainz sim we were delighted to receive the NRM's blessing on the product.
Their endorsement will feature in our national print and online campaign, and on the packaging, which will feature the beautiful blue Mallard of course. In return we will be helping the NRM with in-store demos of the product in their popular museum shops and ultimately helping the museum setting up Railway Simulator so you can drive it from a real train cab."
Rhiannan Sullivan from NRM adds, "Just Trains and Just Flight have built up an enviable reputation in the PC simulation community, but when we saw Railway Simulator 2004 we didn't realise a train sim could be so much fun!
"The product seems to be easy enough for beginners and yet offers huge amounts of depth and rail building for die-hard enthusiasts. It's a great way for people to get a taste of driving a train or running a railway - be it modern or from the days of steam. We are more than pleased to give it our endorsement."
Trainz Railway Simulator is due to ship October 29th with an expected UK street price of £29.99.
