    Hi there Surprised

I really wanna play with FSX new demo, though I have Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed on my computer and not SP2 as required (I hate SP2. It slows down my computer and i would NEVER EVER install it Twisted Evil )

Is it possible to "cheat" the installation wizard so i could run FSX?

    Thanks!

Not that I am aware of. But considering that none of our computers ever showed a slow down after SP2, I would be curious about what specifically associated with SP2 caused the problems you experienced. Am I correct in assuming that the problem went away after removing SP@? Did you contact MS support for help with the issue?

No, actually I havn't tried. It wasn't so critical, just that it adds all that unnecessary crap that I don't need Laughing

Who says I don't use security upgrades? you don't have to install SP2 to do that Wink

many of my friends whom upgrades their computer on a regular basis and have SP2 installed were infected many times while my computer is clean and works fine for three whole years Smile la la la...

I never had that prob since my computer came with sp2 already on it last year and i dont see anything wrong with having it, it cant hurt, especially since most games will be requireing it.

If you do some research, you will find will find that SP2 addresses some issues that are dealt with nowhere else.

As for the computer infections your friends experienced, I can only say that there is no security upgrade available anywhere that protects a computer against user stupidity and carelessness.

But it is your computer. Do whatever you want.

    Everything above is true

SP2 "fixed" a lot of Umm... holes,so use it.

Allways use an upto date A/V progran (you dont have to pay,try Avast)

So if you want the demo, update Windows Wink

I really appreciate all of your comments - i really do Laughing but i'd like to stick with the saying "If it ain't broken - don't fix it!". I'm doing fine so far with my OS and i won't change it for any demo (maybe for the full version Wink )

If anybody knows a way to install FSX's demo despite my inappropriate service pack i'll be really happy to know it though...

The problem is that it is broken. You just don't realize it. You have the right to do whatever you wish, but don't bemoan the fact that MS won't permit certain things on system it knows is broken.

I held out loading SP2 because it named a program I had as possibly being "damaged" if I ran it.
When they (MS) stopped supporting SP1 I loaded SP2 so that I could keep my computer up-to-date every second Tuesday.

I haven't had a problem with it so my fears were either unfounded to they issued fixes to it since it first came out.

    You can always remove it.
