Hey everyone,
My first real post here. I'm a pilot; I'm hoping to work for an airline soon but right now I'm working on my private stuff. Anyways; I took a flight today at STS, my local airport which is closed Sat & Sunday for the air show!
It just so happened after I flew; a C-17 Globemaster III, the Air Force Carrier Plane, tail number 05-5141, just so happened to land on a 1,700 foot runway, use reverse thrust in its 4 engines to back off and into a parking space, in front of 300,000+ people. Once it landed I rushed over to meet the pilots; and took a look at the inside of the plane. No kidding; I actually touched it and stepped inside!
Heres a photo of it at STS taken today before I touched it on a morning test land:

Heres 3 more photos of the same plane (identified via tailnumber) that I touched:

The pilot said he has flown 2 flights to Afganistan, 1 to Iraq, and one with research equitment to Antartica. How cool is that? The plane is only 1.5 years old too!

Sounds like a great experience - good luck on your search for an airline!

Looks like you had a blast on the air show. Hope you find a job in an airline soon. |

It is a shame that C-17 production will likely end soon. It seems the Pentagon is willing to buy $600 toilet seats or pour money into sleazy companies like Halliburton, but doesn't want to pay for useful things like cargo planes. _________________ CrashGordon
