    Hi gang Smile
My first post here. having a blast with the Bleriot donload for FSX from this site. It's a lot of fun to fly and a bit of a challenge too. The only thing I noticed that is off, is the external view of the prop disc. On my system anyway, it is clear. Like there is nothing there at all. You can see right through the whole aircraft Laughing . Could that be some kind of a texture problem?

    Thanks,

    Rich Cool

Welcome to Flyaway RichardI Cheers! , always glad to see a new member. Glad to hear you're enjoying the Bleriot XI, not sure what's causing your textural problems. Many people have been having small problems with FSX. Sounds like it requires a higher level of graphic settings to view the rotating disk of the propeller. Your system, as with most systems, may not be able to run the program at the settings that would allow the view you desire. Maybe someone that is more technically adept will check in, I don't have FSX(yet). Smile

Thanks for the reply Cap'n. I think my system is quite capable (although not top-of-the-line). I have an ASUS A8N-SLI, with 2 GB of dual channel DDR 400, An FX-57 processor, and a 7900GTX OC 512 Mb vid card. I have FSX locked at 28 fps (at the moment). I'm currently using the trilinear filtering in FSX, not in my vid driver. I'll try bumping her up to Anisotropic and see if that works. Razz And thanks for the welcome.

    Thanks

No no , you haven't comitted any crime or even minor stupidity. Perhaps my phrasing was a bit out of conventional etiquette.

I just get a bit upset when new members are being led like lambs to the slaughter in the understanding that the Flyaway library is the one and only and what's more the cream of the crop.

Turn around, walk away and join a library that cares for simmers, has updated files and specialised support forums. Ther are many good libraries, all of them have pros and cons.

Having said that, the majority of us addicts will agree that in an all around way avsim.com is the best and therefore the most sensible file library to get aquainted with.

The inferior file libraries (I won't even mention copyright breaches) will not update files when updates are available and will not have accesss to newer files (to mention but a few reasons) because of the express wishes of the authors not to upload their creations to certain file libraries.

I want to make it clear that you don't deserve any kind of criticism simply because you didn't know any better.

Finally, if you get into the habit of obtaining your files from avsim.com, it will be much easier for us who want to help you to troubleshoot should the need arise. Not only easier but much quicker if you state the file name of the culprit in question.
With avsim, all we have to do is look up the filename and do a ZipDive and most of your problems will already have been solved.

I could give you a hundred more reasons, but one thing at a time Wink

    Good advice, tailhook.

I've also been getting some odd bugs with the XI, specifically mine doesn't have a tail section when in the virtual cockpit view. It's actaully terribly amusing to me. But it's still a great model and I use it all the time for the sheer amusement of flying something like that.
