Now you're just being polite. The shots are terrible and the pilot is even worse.

Don't know why I bothered with the tailhook in the first place Very Happy

It just occurred to me -- you might be missing this line in your aircraft.cfg:

    visual_damage=1

It will only be effective for the textures you add it to. In other words, If you have a total of 6 different textures for one aircraft, you have to add this same line 6 times - one for each texture.

Oh ,by the way Tailhook, i added the visual damage line and had a little bit of flame when i crashed in the sea the other day (on purpose), so it's getting there.

I think I've figured out why you've been dragging your feet with those damage and crash effects Welshflyer... Whistle

Your flightsim addiction has reached the stage where at times you can't differenciate between the virtual and the 'real'. (I'm always hesitant to use the word 'real' for some reason.)

Don't worry, I can testify that even if your a/c explodes in a ball of fire with you still in it -- you'll be able to walk away... hey, I'm the living proof Ninja

    Very Happy

How about a trade Welshflyer, are you a bartering man?

I didn't want to mess up your Around the World with the US Navy! topic too much and since this has to do with tailhook equipped a/c, namely the Goshawk in 'Blue Angels' livery, I thought I post it here.
Let me explain: I'd been flying the Goshawk but got annoyed with the sinking nose wheel and the fact that I hadn't put the CAT Arm gauge into the panel yet. After having had a closer look at your screenies I realised that we have the same panel ...and lo and behold Shocked ... the same aircraft. I didn't even know I had the 'Blue Angels' livery.

I'll trade you my aircraft.cfg for your panel.cfg -- look at the nose wheel:

    Before:

    After:

...deal? It's called 'Sharing the workload' I think Think

    Very Happy

Well that's what's been brewing in my mind for some time now - retrofitting some heavies with tailhooks and Cat switches.

Shooting a trap could be extremely tricky -- just thinking about it is spinning me out Shocked -- BUT.. some carriers have ILS.. I wonder how an 'autoland' feature would affect a possible successful recovery...

I hope none of the *serious* simmers reads this -- I can see several cardiac arrests looming.

They did land and launch a C-130 from a carrier once, maybe that would be a good starting point. Hey, if they can do a C-130 in real life, we should be able to do a C-5 Galaxy in the sim..

..oh the possibilities are endless Tomato

    Very Happy

I've been wondering about the ILS on the carriers for a while, but decided not to trust it, anyway it's more fun manually landing on a carrier Very Happy , getting it just right must be sweet (not that i'd know Sad ).
