Gentlemen this is inspiring stuff. If you would like to fly on of those Shorts in the sim, I recommend you check out Jens B. Kristensen's work.

    http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=fsxac&SearchTerm=jens+b.+kristensen&Sort=Name&ScanMode=1&Go=Change+View

Presently I have this one: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fsxac&DLID=97714

If you're not familiar with his work let me assure you his claims that his aircraft are compatible with both, FSX and FS2004 are true. All these aircraft were previously released for FS2004 - and we've too often been disappointed with so called 'updated for FSX' aircraft. Not in this case though.
These aircraft have REALLY been updated and are fully compatible with both sims. Now, all these aircraft come with a setup.exe which I usually avoid like the pest but Kristensen's can be trusted if you need to rely on them.
He also supplies historic flights which have been nicely put together and he gives very clear instructions how to install them. 10 out of 10 Very Happy

i can attest to the truth of the above. i have been flying the sandrinham for the past year almost, and it is awesome.
i just wish the one i have had better prop discs. the props disappear once they begin to spin. other than that, the models fly well and look even better. i had the sunderland for a while, but something in me prefers the sandringham. i can't really say why. have any of you checked out the website i posted? good stuff there, especially on the picture page, some very rare photos of planes that don't exist anymore. don't miss out!

    I have indeed; this:

    New Project:
    Empire Flying Boat Model:
Our next model project is to make a flying 1/10 scale model of the Empire Flying Boat, using the moulds we have made from the excellent drawings of the Empire Boat from Brian Cassidy .
about a third down on the page jogged my memory regarding Kristensen's Short Empire.

I'm about to re-install it now but can't remember what soundset I used for it. Cheezyflyer you got any up your sleeve?

the one that came with the sunderland really isn't anything special. if you find anything good, how about a heads up?

also, on another note, any luck on the origins of your kamov? i have looked everywhere i know, unsuccessfully.

That's probably aliased to the default DC-3 as well. I dug up the one I like to use, check it out:

    Cute quote from the README;
    Quote:
As with most sound packages, they are designed whereas one sound does for two or maybe four engines thus giving a "blowing down a toilet roll tube" sound. This is where this sound package is different.
    Very Happy

Sorry I haven't found the Kamov yet I'll let you know when I do. Seems I finally have to find a secretary that is handy with Excel - to archive my files. I can't find anything anymore Hack

oh, think i don't know ezzackily that sentiment? i recently did a full re-install of both FS9 and FSX. the only thing not being able to find stuff did for me was cause me to re-evaluate some of what i had. my hangar would have made the aerospace museum look small. it's alot more modest these days.
