Indeed we were Sir... Bow Down Seeing that sanity has returned you may now repair to the infirmary and have your bruised shoulder and arm seen to... what with all the 'arm twisting'... Very Happy

The humour contained in 'NELSON'S FINAL WORDS' is wicked, representative of our modern times Rules Rules Rules Rules Rules ...are we still allowed to breathe? Help!

cheezyflyer I'm glad you've posted that link... I thought 'Soundgarden' was one of those 'Boy Bands' I love to hate.
They seem to take a while to warm up in this song, it seems to really start at about 03:32 -- do I detect just a little bit of 'Led Zeppelin' influence?
...on that subject, I've heard repeatedly that 'Wolfmother' are the new 'Led Zeppelin'.
Does anyone have an opinion on that?

it really surprises me you didn't know their stuff! they were an awesome band during their time. look for their albums "badmotorfinger" "super unknown" and "down on the upside" excellent if you like it loud and heavy, but with the slow heroin groove of seattle. (i am not endorsing heroin, just being descriptive) as for the led zep influence, can any heavy rock band honestly NOT lay claim to being influenced by them?
however, i wont get started on jimmy page and his plagarism. i do like the band. if you like the loud and heavy, here is another band you may enjoy:

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EVtBRO_FxYQ
they were called "drain sth" (for stockholm) hotties from sweden who used to rock it REAL hard. the guitarist used to hang with dimebag darrel alot from pantera, and one of the others was associated in some way with zak wylde for a while. note the robinson helicopter in the video.

or how about "drill" with lucia cifarelli:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EVtBRO_FxYQ their best song was "i like you" but it's not on youtube.

or if you like, there is the queen of late 80's hair metal, hailing from germany, how many of you remember doro pesch?
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kuS1Jl2Y6TU&feature=related

and just because i mentioned some cool female headbangers, i will mention lita ford, but i won't honor her with a url because in my opinion the only reason she ever got signed was because she was married to tony iommi from sack blabbath. i have known personally several female headbangers with wayyyy more talent than her.

My goodness cheezy you are on a roll... what you been smoking Shocked Gimme a couple of weeks to digest all that.
"i wont get started on jimmy page and his plagarism" hehehehe... my fav subject, in JP's defense, he was more of an original than a plagiarist Yes ...is there any musician past and present who never plagiarized? Even Beethoven kinda admitted to it.

I'm working my way through your list of songs... are these females real females Very Happy

my first band did several led zep covers, i like them, and think page is a talented guitarist. however, the best summary of my criticism of page's theivery can be found here: http://www.furious.com/perfect/jimmypage.html

i don't think everybody plagarizes, or even if they did i wouldn't think that made it excuseable. that's like saying because everyone lies, lying is ok. for an example of a brilliant guitarist who has never been accused of plagarism, i offer randy rhodes. his adaptation of classical music and phrygian scales into heavy metal made him an innovator, and his technical ability separated him from all others.

as for the girls i posted, yes, they are all "real" girls, in the sense i mean, that they all sport OEM plumbing. Laughing
if you mean real as in musical credibility, i would defend them yet again. but if you mean are they real as people, in their charachter, i don't know them. Wink

    here is drain:

    lucia cifarelli of drill:

    doro pesch:

***edit no i swear i aint smokin nuthin, i'm just goin stir crazy from being stuck at home for the last year and a half.

Well, that clears that up. You can't take anything for granted these days. Look at Welshflyer's topic opener, the very first link to the Manic Street Preachers... the dude on the drums had me fooled all right Mr. Green

    "Thick as a Brick" does...

Seriously, when you get to a certain degree of 'greatness' (for lack of another word) - you can't say: 'This is greater than that' or: 'This one's the best'. Those great numbers are all 'the best'...

Doh! ...maybe I should just avoid using a superlative here Idea

Except perhaps Xavia Rudd's 'let me be', where he sings, playes the stomp box, harmonica, guitar and didgeridoo all in the one song.Amazing one man band, pity he's not better known overseas.

Warlord that dude reminds me of this band I was in called Jerrod's Door (I think they are still around, check myspace).

They used to call themselves psychedelic tribal jazz... and the lead member Jeffrey was like that... played didge and all the other instruments...

    Really cool setup!

Some might be familiar with the opening bars of this song but... yes there is an original version and it's very old. Open your ears and let the sunshine in:

Tailhook that is a classic. Thank you, I have not heard that one since the 70s. It is still just as powerful today.
