$5. But what does it buy?

I see most, if not all of your files are available for free down load at other, better stocked, flight sim libraries on the net.

I was curious to know what the $5 goes towards, and wether the actual designers see any of this money that you are charging so people can down load.

With the amount of people who are indeed members, surely this has set the owner of this site up for life.

Maybe some one will set up a $3.99 site to allow people to download other peoples work...that would be a bit of competition alright!

Just wondered - that's all.

Keep up the stirling work. I guess you are only doing similar to what Coke are doing - selling tap water back to the public at profit.

Since I don't see a dime of that huge amount ($5) let me try to answer that.
To set up a site like this you have to buy:
A domain name-renew every year.
Web host- the more space you need the more it costs.
Web-board-most are free but they have their own advertising, this one costs $$$.
A server- High speed is desirable or you'll be waiting hours for a download or minutes for the forum to change from one topic to another.
Yep, this is his hobby, but even hobbies can cost more than a single individual can afford. If you want a piss-poor slow site go to a (free) slow one without downloads. If you like this site help him support it, your 5 buck donations don't go into his pocket they go to all the people he pays to keep the site running and then adds more of his own.
All of the other sites like this cost more to join or are run with an iron fist, he lets us have fun, that's his fun.

It's not about whether or not a website is distributing [another] person's work!!!

The downloads are either free, or shareware. You decide THEIR income on Karma.

The people running THIS webiste need to pay for bandwidth. This includes any data, including HTML.

Give the guys a break, they're doing their best with what they can. When someone expects something for nothing, that's usually what they get..
