Hi,
When you add RAM, do you just have to add it, and then you will have the effect of this added RAM, or is there anything to install etc. Same with the video card. Does anything else need to be done, or is it nice and simple
Thanks a lot _________________ Click below to support FSF:

Fitting extra ram is easy, just pop it in and just start the PC (you have to make sure that you are fitting compatable ram for your mobo)
Fitting a graphics card is a little different,as you will have drivers to install _________________

Well there are a couple of ways to check, the easy way is to go in to the bios(reboot your PC and press F2) and it will tell you what speed and type
It should also tell you how many memory modules you have
The other way is to pop the side of the PC off and remove one and check any labels for numbers(put them into Google and it will tell you more)
This way you can instantly see how many memory modules you have, and how many you can put in
Dell make a lot of their own components and use a strange way numbering items _________________

The actual installation is very simple, it just plugs into a slot, but there are cautions any time you open your computer up. Make sure you are grounded so you don't have any static electricity in your body. It can destroy a computer it you touch the wrong thing.
Just make sure you get memory that is compatible with the memory you have.
One other thing. There is only one way the memory should go in. Don't force it. Make sure the alignment notch is lined up properly with the slot and that will be the right way to install it. |

| Video cards are a different animal. They too just plug in but you will have to follow the instructions on how to install the drivers. Different video cards may install the software differently. |
