Is there somewhere that explaines what all the acronims (i think thats what they're called) mean like AI and VFR etc

Correct me if I'm wrong but :
Airy.
A standard model for computing earth data.
Isn't this just a fancy term for a GPS?
or is this a mathamatical calculation or something
